Sept 11 terrorist mocks CIA interrogators
The mastermind of the September 11 terrorist attacks shrugged off the experience of being waterboarded by his CIA interrogators, a former aide to George W. Bush has said.

Mohammed used his fingers to tick off the seconds before he knew he must be released, Mr Thiessen said. Under CIA safety regulations, suspects could be waterboarded for a maximum of 40 seconds.

“He was communicating to his interrogators that he was on to them,” Mr Thiessen told a panel in Washington discussing if intelligence that led the US to Osama bin Laden was obtained via torture.

Quoting one of Mohammed’s interrogators, Mr Thiessen later said: “For a psychopath, you have to give him his props. He’s tough”.
