Maybe I’m giving a wrong analogy here… but let’s take Jack Chick. He always exposes Catholics, but he was pretty sympathetic when it came to Russian Orthodox Church under Bolsheviks. In that strip they were simply “Russian Christians” or something like that, despite saints, icons and whatnot. So it’s situational. Against a humongously greater “evil” they may accept even Romney, but Catholics are just much nearer on the Christian continuum.

Interesting. I’ve never seen a Chick tract with Russian Christians. And I’ve actually read a number of them.

I must look some of those up.
