I was recently privileged to work with a fine young engineer from a former East-bloc country, and I was reminded that the rest of the world is not standing still in the pursuit of scientific knowledge. This guy was really good, and he wasn’t trained in America.

I’m not sure how much of a scientific “edge” America has left even today, let alone 10 years from now. Did Iran (or perhaps China) really hack into our unmanned drone and trick it into landing at an Iranian military base? Attacking two important areas of science, evolution and climate change, is a luxury we can’t afford.
