$120/mo seems unlikely. Internet is usually around $40, and you can get a good laptop for $300 these days. Old people will have trouble retraining, but a mobile workforce can enable young people to stay in rural America rather than continuing the brain-drain from rural areas to the cities.

Accepting Trump’s lies that he’ll bring back high-paying manual labor jobs because they prefer that to learning to live in advancing society is choosing to be a dead-ender and trying to drag the country down with them.

My slow-ass service is $120 a month. It will rise in April to $140. Maybe I can get $40 Internet if I sign up for dial-up in Denver, I don’t know.

What is this “mobile workforce” of which you speak? Here we call that “migrant farm workers.”

The only way to stop the drain from rural areas is to invest in rural areas. Late-stage capitalism is only interested in this quarter’s profits, not the next generation of people living somewhere.

Since you’re not going to get rid of the Electoral College, these areas being hollowed out by greed of corporations and lack of investment by government will grow only more resentful.
