I really like this idea

Even if the GOP decided that canceling was a good idea, Donny wouldn’t allow them to do it. Why? Because holding a multi-day event where the party kisses his ass and licks his boots on live TV, capped by him stepping out and giving a long “I am your God-Emperor” speech to the faithful, is the sort of ego-trip that his rallies would never give him. He wants it made clear that his is the party, that he has their undying loyalty and they must show it by tossing themselves upon the funeral pyre that is his presidency.
