These charts aren’t really accurate. I’d like to see the actual taxes paid. Back when there were 70% marginal rates there were also many more ways to beat the taxes!

(My personal feeling is I don’t care what the rate is—I just want every man, woman, and child who makes more than, say $10,000 year, to pay the same rate.)
