“Will allow”. I can’t remember ever seeing headlines that read:

“XYZ city will allow new Catholic Church to be built”
“PDQ city will allow new Mega Church to be built”
“ABC city will allow new Synagogue to be built”

Reading the linked article, I noticed two things re the Sterling Heights mosque brouhaha:

1. The city has a large population of “Chaldeans” (Iraqi Christians, mainly immigrants): so I’m thinking at least some of the opposition to the new mosque isn’t from the “usual” sources.

2. This bit:

Both lawsuits allege that Sterling Heights violated the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act, which says the government can’t be biased against any religion when making land use decisions.

I wonder how long it will be before some GOP Congressman moves to gut or repeal this Act….?
