Sunk cost fallacy and the idea of affiliation as veracity. Always makes me think of this article.

At this point what irks me is the poor craftsmanship. Like, I can respect a good hustle, but this is just fucking pathetic. Chuck Johnson should not be able to make a car payment, let alone a career, out of the shit he peddles, and yet…it’s not just that he does it, it’s that there’s several clown cars worth of competitors for the same Fiji Mermaid, “off-brand Vienna sausage at the by-the-lot-store”-quality work.

And the ugliness. I can understand greed, I can understand wanting cheap fixes or magic cures. But there’s this entire culture of people who seem to enjoy being scared, and have this kind of sociopathic moray-eel excitement about the idea that people that aren’t like them are in pain.

I swear on the bones of this robot, the internet has connected up all the people that would otherwise just be the neighborhood weirdo that you didn’t leave alone with your pets, and now they’ve got a support network for their psychopathic tendencies.
