That’s fine. But their view are rather unrealistic. As governor he would have to rely on the NJ state legislature. And hypothetically as president he would have to rely on congress. Governors, like presidents, aren’t graced with all encompassing power. Retired police officers, federal officers or if you have a “justifiable need” (going before the sheriff and a judge) can get a CCW in New Jersey.

The other issue is that there are too many sheriffs and judges in that state who will never see “reasonable need”. NJ’s gun laws are bad. Chris Christie likely can’t do anything about most of them, since he does have to pick his battles with care (lest he court the political fate of Arnold Schwarzenegger ), but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. But unlike Bob Owens, I’m not going to make Perfect the enemy of the Good.
