Anyone who’s ever worked in a bar or restaurant knows that the hours are long, the pay is shit, and people are douchebags. That’s why I try to be cool to bartenders, baristas, and waitstaff. Tips or not, it’s a lot of stress.

Sadly, untrue. I have known people who used to be waiters or bartenders who treat their waitstaff as, well, as they used to hate being treated.

Sorta the hazing justification mentality: it’s part of the job, suck it up and it’ll make you stronger in the end. That and, “Now it’s my turn.” all mixed together.
