The GOP is casting about for anyone who doesn’t have an indictment, criminal record, or has watched their state’s fortunes implode (like Christie who has the double whammy of ongoing investigation and a state that has lagged in the recovery and has seen 8 credit downgrades since he took office - mostly because he hasn’t raised taxes to cover shortfalls in the transportation trust fund and robbed the pension plans to cover shortfalls due to the casino industry imploding in Atlantic City).

Daniels would probably fall into the Huntsman category. Would be reasonable under normal circumstances, or a GOP of even 20 years ago. Now, they’re too liberal to be considered a viable choice. The GOP has radicalized so far to the right that they are likely to cease being a viable national party as a result.

Absolutely. That Huntsman was too “liberal” shows you how nutty this party’s electorate is getting.
