I’d rather have a line from Chicago to Milwaukee. It would see a good bit of use and might take some cars off the road. The problem would that it couldn’t be high speed for some of its trip due to urban grade crossings.

The stretch of I-35 between San Antonio and Dallas is the most traveled (and most deadly) piece of highway in the country. At least it was a couple of years ago. Slap some highspeed rail there, and it will get used.
