Want to know why your prescription coverage is so expensive?

Yesterday a box appeared on my porch. The box contained a nice foam cooler just right for a 6-pack of beer. Inside were four 1 liter frozen gellpacks. The gel was maintaining the shipping temperature of a single 5 milliliter bottle of a common prescription eyedrop, about a month’s supply.

The insurance paid about 90% of the $300 the meds cost. They insist that we use the online pharmacy or pay a 50% penalty for using the one down the street.

Somebody’s getting screwed, and I’m getting a bunch of nice coolers.
