If we made newbies post X number of comments before they could ding, that would be a cap. If you lost a karma point every time you checked the rating on comments to see user names, that would be a trade.

that doesn’t address the underlying problem. We should limit thread length. Consuming all this storage and bandwith is unsustainable.
