Speaking of all this manufacturing, NHK world is running a special on manufacturing in the quake and tsunami hit Tohoku region, and how interconnected that region is to a great deal of Japanese manufacturers, and how that plays even into multi-national companies.

One of the concerns aired is what will happen if the small Japanese companies can’t recover in time, and the larger companies (like auto makers) turn to foreign, and cheaper (read: China) sources.
