I am still convinced that what we are seeing played out in our politics is the outworking of a very slow post-Christianization of the US. It is happening much more slowly here than it happened in Europe in the 20th century, but WWI and WWII basically upended the old ideas of Christendom there.

Noticed that Mullah Mohler was on Faux and Friends last week complaining about the new Newsweek. And given Huckabee’s association with Fox, and so on, I think I’m on good ground when I say that the hotair of the rightwing is fueled with the burning fumes of an outdated belief system.
