i’m having serious deja vu here. Wasn’t there already an armored bear in Golden Compass? Is this a series of some sort based on that source material?

This is an HBO series remake of The Golden Compass, the first book of the His Dark Materials trilogy, so ya the armored bear has been done before. Basically the church is the villain of the plot, so fundamentalist Christians freak out over it.
