The right seems so convinced that the odds are in their favor because they think Dem turnout will be down enough to be counteracted by a strong Republican one. I won’t deny that Republican turnout will be up from 2008 and Democratic turnout will be down some from that year but it’s not going to be as totally depressed as they want it to be. Hell, as Silver has pointed out, there’s a possibility that Obama’s support could be under-represented in some of these polls.

I think it is. Lots of people in my age group, under 40, don’t have land lines to even participate in a poll.
