You have to be capable of that in your character. I mean Bush was awful but I know why he was able to rally the nation after 9/11 because he didn’t turn everything into his personal grievances. I can’t imagine him bashing then Governor Warner after the Pentagon was hit or during the sniper attacks here. Trump benefited immensely from the empty slate of sexism that his entire candidacy benefited from the start.

Trump’s approval has improved slightly, but he is still underwater and is not seeing the kind of “rally around the flag” effect many Presidents have experienced in crises. Let us hope Biden stays healthy.
