I really wanted that movie to be better than it was. It’s such a great concept. I tend to dwell on the minor improbabilities in movies, and I was very bothered wondering how the Nautilus could navigate the canals of Venice.

The Nautilus was also impossibly huge by any standard. I don’t mind suspending disbelief, but sometimes things become so ridiculously improbable that the impossibility of ignoring them grates it’s way to center stage.

Has Connery been in anything since? I would hate for that to be his last film.

I know he turned down a lead role in Lord of the Rings, claiming retirement was just too enjoyable and that he didn’t understand the plot.
