There is a need for a trial. I think DF’s point was that he doesn’t give a squirt for Manning’s sexuality or the perceived/implied problems that might have been connected to it, it’s all about the crimes he allegedly committed.
Yes, I get that. That’s perfectly clear. DF doesn’t care about motivations.
I thought it was of interest, whether it’s a cynical ploy to gain sympathy before being punished for a very serious crime… or whether the defense makes a compelling case for some leniency.
