I’ve just started reading book 1 again, after giving up on it a couple of years ago. I might make reading GoT my summer vacation project.

I sure as hell hope GRRM has some overall plan for the series written down somewhere, but I fear he’s one of those writers who lets the story get away from him as he writes. That might explain why he spends thousands of pages to move his plotlines along at a snail’s pace.
