This idea that somehow we would all be safer if only we all carried a gun 24/7 everywhere we go is simply an idea that is gaining popularity by the constant repetition.
I lived in Japan for 3 years. Almost no one in the nation has a gun. I was much safer there than here in the US. And it’s not because the Japanese are not violent people. They are people like everybody else. But they have been spared a gun fetish. And there are almost no gun deaths in a country of 125 million people.
