Conservatives had a great deal of sympathy and wanted to give a pass to a guy who murdered 500 women and children in My Lai (Lt. Calley) but they want to throw the book at or execute (Trump and others) a nut who walked off his base and got captured by the enemy. Conservative moral values on display.
