There was a lot of bigotry in the North, that made the abolition movement āradicalā even in the North. The thing is, the radicals in the North prevailed politically, yet hardly were a revisioning of America.
Slavery is Americaās first and major sin. Assuming we only encumber the US to what happened after 1776 and not the prior colonialism.
That our current President not only is ignorant of this but actively courts revisionists and bigots himself is I think the worse thing that has happened in American politics in my lifetime.
I was not old enough to be actively engaged during Nixonās tenure in politics. However, I was during Reaganās, and I could see this coming. Iām surprised it took so long.
When my wife and I were in Poland, several people there asked us why we were crazy enough to return to the USA, because they saw there imminent political unrest.
I will stand for my home as long as I can. My affirmation of enlistment and office arenāt just pretty words to me - they mean something.
