Today was a rough day, being my first Mother’s Day without my mom. But then I realized that I AM THE MOM NOW. I mean, I have been The Mom to my own kids but my mom was THE MATRIARCH. That’s me now.

My mom cast her first vote for Harry Truman in 1948 and voted Democratic ever since. She watched me go through my wingnut phase and predicted that I would eventually come to my senses, which I did, and she just nodded wisely.
