Not really. In fact, VPs have often been more handicapped by being part of a sitting administration than helped, mostly because they’re basically hitched to the rise and fall of their boss’ legacy. Most recent example being Gore, who despite his boss having awesome poll numbers even into his final year, still was seen as nothing more than a continuation of the Clinton presidency.
