Personally, I’m convinced that a stronger Republican candidate would have taken more votes, though I am not quite sure who this theoretical candidate would have been. All of the Republican candidates were flawed one way or the other. (Whereas Obama has been so vacuous his entire political career, running against him was like running against air).

I am also sure that ANY Republican could have actually won in the aftermath of the pre-election financial meltdown.
