My argument is that there needs to be a “gun check” station around political events where important people are hosting events. None of this 1000 ft saftey radius, I mean guys with metal detectors and nobody gets in without giving up all firearms to a gun safety locker.

That or we could insist that all important need to do events like this from inside bullet proof glass cubes which kind of defeats the whole point of seeming approachable.

Probably the gun check thing would be prudent. About the only thing that can be done short of bullet proof glass—and that would seem downright un-American to keep our politicians so isolated from the public.
