You read about police departments being revealed to have a contingent of KKK members and it honestly scares you. These are the people that are supposed to be protecting us. And then you think about all the progress we’re supposed to have made. Not that I think we have made zero progress in the days since MLK but we have a long way to go. And we need to be willing to talk about race as a nation.

We do need to talk about it, but anytime somebody does, the wingers scream RACE CARD. That’s why I can’t fault Obama that much for not saying much about Ferguson. Sadly, I believe it would just make things worse. The wingers are still shrieking about the innocuous statement he made that if he had a son, he’d look like Trayvon Martin.
