I don’t follow Israeli politics very closely, but I do recall there being some kind of dispute about the Golan Heights and who it should belong to. I still think letting the protesters shout and scream for eight hours before going home peacefully would have been a better approach…and it would have shown that Israel isn’t afraid of disagreement so long as it’s kept within reason. If the protesters had tanks, then again that would have been a different story.

If you read the article, the protesters in the Druse village were convinced to go back to Syria. They were leaving, ESCORTED by the IDF when 1000 more came running across the border and stopped on the other side by Syria’s patrol. The IDF considered that a threat and I do, too.
