I’m not so sure. I remember learning about Revolutionary Times in which different Founding Fathers basically used their own newspapers for propaganda purposes.

It has, in that the people and the publications didn’t pretend that these were unbiased, objective sources of information. We had a period of time where the media more or less was, and now what’s left of it is burning its reputations for eyeballs. Fox News doesn’t proclaim itself “the unapologetic voice of the Right”, it pretends to be “Fair and Balanced!” And we have the Balance Fairy bullshit fact checkers.
