Wisconsin is the only other state, as you well know DF, that has almost no way for a civilian to get a CCW permit. I believe that it’s oversold by the right & the left - we don’t end up with gunfights in the streets but we also do not end up with massive drops in crime that can’t be explained in several other ways. I have no problem with CCW and won’t say much more because of current WI law.

We do allow open carry and it is perfectly legal to hunt with my 4” barreled S&W 64 .38 special revolver. Towards that end I requested a shoulder holster (WWII pilot style repro) for Christmas. I received it but not without a bit of grief about if I were suddenly into that republican thing about having guns everywhere.

I’m more paranoid about the far right theocratic types than anything else. I think they’re far more likely to do real “gun grabbing” in my lifetime than any liberal who is far more inclined to increasing the rest of our freedoms.

I believe in most of that, except for the “any liberal who is far more inclined to increasing the rest of our freedoms” part. There are some on the left who are concerned with that, but their are also many misguided pacifists who try to write their prefers into law. There are also command and control type leftists like Barbara Boxer who want to arrange the world to suit their views and see freedom as a hinderance to same. A lot of the left still likes gun control, but like the theocrats, they are constrained by their coalition partners.
