The bigger problem is that the interview wasn’t really for users, it was for shareholders.

Because pretty much anything CEOs do these days is aimed at shareholders, and shareholders don’t seem to care (anymore, if they ever did) about the long term health and sustainability of the company in the economy as a whole.
