OT: Yet another economic disaster is heading towards Puerto Rico.

The Ways and Means Committee approved a bill that will put a 20% to anything that’s imported into the US. This hits us very bad: the Jones Act already makes most products more expensive than the States. This will shoot the cost of life, without any relief anywhere else. Salaries will still be below those in the states (for example, teachers here start with around $20k in salary, and a median of around $38k).

What this will cause is greater immigration towards the US, and a death spiral for PR’s economy.

But billionaires have to have their tax cuts. Oh, and Donald too.

Forget the economic disaster.

The natural disaster continues. Power had gotten restored to about 43% today, until a major distribution line restored by Whitefish failed - so about 20% of the island has power.

More than 40 days after the storm made landfall, 80% is without power (again).
