That location and those self-driving cars came up in the meeting I was in this morning. Everybody but me was convinced that they’re better than the people-driven cars.
Not in Lubbock. I am there today and I am reminded again of just how bad Lubbock drivers are. The place leads the nation in accidents caused by hitting stationary objects. Traffic signs, bridge abutments, fences, parked vehicles, storefronts, and houses are not safe anywhere in the city. One enterprising drunk managed to drive through the front door of an emergency clinic. One house that faces a dead end has been hit 4 times in 20 years. I will attempt to escape this afternoon, fleeing to the southeast during a lull in the carnage.
