I dunno. I’m just thinking about my parents right now. Undoubtedly, they believe the election was fraudulent, though I haven’t asked. My dad, a lifetime dittohead (listener of Rush Limbaugh), has been hearing Rush say every day for decades that Democrats only win when they cheat. He doesn’t necessarily believe Democrats shouldn’t be allowed to vote, but that if they voted fairly, they’d lose every time. Of course, after this election, he might believe that Democrats should no longer be allowed to vote.

Really feel bad about this. I think of my own dad when I hear stories like this. He could’ve easily gone down the Fox News rabbit hole, given how easily his prejudices would get the better of him at times. I was getting something out of his trunk in the 90’s once, and saw he had one of Limbaugh’s screeds sitting in there. He worked for the book’s publisher, so I never found out whether he was Dittohead-curious or was getting it for a friend.

Probably one of the few times in my life I’m glad someone actually subscribed to the Magic Balance Fairy “All politicians are equally bad” nonsense.

And as I’ve said before, I know two guys who have been listening to Rush since we were in our late teens/early 20’s. We’re talking mid to late 1980’s here. Nothing ages you quicker than listening to a guy 20 years your senior pour that poison into your earholes.

I genuinely hope your folks love you for you. As much as my partner’s mom is hopelessly mired in that bullshit, she at least isn’t angry at her for not being on the proper “team”.
