Still tripping over the word “allowed”. Sending fugitive slaves back to a state of zero personal autonomy was not only allowed, the SC made it mandatory. What we have here and now is far more ephemeral than young people realize. That’s why every damn election is “the most important election of our lives”.

So most people today would agree that this was a violation of personal rights.

If we can start from a standpoint that most people agree with and move forward logically from there, people find it harder to counter and are forced to really think about it in a different way, which might lead them to a different conclusion.

I mean, I agree with you that every election is important and unfortunately this right is far more tenuous than it should be. I think I am also well aware of just how fucking important this right is.
