When you’re looking for the other person to share your life with, lists seem helpful.

They frequently aren’t.

I can pretty much guarantee I would have had “close in age” on my list.

My husband is 17 years older than me.

Focus on being the you you want to be, and the person who wants to spend their life with that you will be much more likely to find you.

It’s also not absolute age…the differences diminish once you are past your 20’s, people do not fully become themselves until they get close to 30, at least from my experience.

Or stick to The Prophet’s rule of thumb: half the husband’s age plus 7 years. My ex was 25, I was 36. My current girlfriend was 34 when I met her, I was 54…Allah be praised!
