I see Mark Steyn is about as impressed with Teddy as i was.
Mark Steyn: Things only a Kennedy could get away with

Well, Nice.

As I posted on the last thread:

I guess the point was that his R colleagues *did* admire him, even if they disagreed with him. I suppose that means that they should be voted out as heretics…

The problem is that Teddy was one of the obvious targets for twenty years of Rush’s scorn. “The Drunk.” “The Swimmer.”

“I’ll rip open my shirt, got Mother Rosie on my chest, Yes, I’m a Kennedy, Yes, I’m, Ted Kennedy, The room spins round and round and round and round.”

An entire generation of conservative radio listeners got the full broadside of his scorn and never really understood the man. Shame, really. Big chunks of Republican legislation got through the Senate solely because Teddy compromised and signed off on it.

Mark Stein is a …what? He’s been elected to which? He has served in public service where? What is is his standing to comment on an individual who, despite his personal failings, may have been the single most influential Senator in history?

Despicable.
