Many people don’t know, and Comfort is clearly one of them, that the yellow banana Comfort is holding is a mutation on wild varieties!

Common sweet banana is a mutation from wild varieties which are not as sweet; furthermore, the varieties we eat have been bred so that the seeds are miniscule in size compared to the natural species.

In other words, what Comfort is holding in his hand is a man-made creation.

I would imagine plantains are closer to indigenous species, but that’s just a guess. They sound like an example of what you describe. (They do get very sweet when fried.)
