Wasn’t it Dana Perino who made the comment about “real Virgina”? I do remember at the time thinking that it was surprising un-clever during a campaign to insult the part of a swing state that contains most of the voters. Hate does funny things.

I don’t think so. It was a woman yes but I think it was a Virginian precinct chair or something like that. Small potato in the grand scheme of things but it was just an unbelievably stupid remark for reasons you just said. And besides the greatest Virginian ever lived near Alexandria :) which is a Democratic area.
