I will do them the courtesy of thinking that what they imagine is a little white-gowned angel—I suspect they think all these kids are white, too, mind you, not just their gowns—thankfully blessing Jesus every night for having saved them from their devil parents.

As opposed to, say, screaming “YOU’RE NOT EITHER OF MY REAL DADDIES,” and biting the adoptive ‘parents’ at every opportunity.

And that really is the fantasy they live under, that they’re “saving” these kids from a horrible environment and giving them a “family” that will love and care for them as only a “traditional” one can. That the kids will initially hate them and lash out, but with “proper care,” will eventually come to accept how wrong and evil their life was before they were “saved” and will thank God that he saw fit to send such people to him.
