Can a president pardon himself for crimes he hasn’t even been charged with yet?
I don’t know that it matters. I think there is a good chance he won’t face federal charges because “we need to come together and move on.” Also, indicting a former president is generally not a good look.
But. There’s always NY which involves things unrelated to his presidency and a federal pardon might actually increase the perception of legitimacy for those state charges.
