Only thing to be done, really. Leaving it as one country would have condemned everyone in it to Communist dominion. Partition at least gave some people a chance at something better. Where we failed was in not pushing hard against the corrupt political culture that arose in South Vietnam.

have you checked out what’s been happening there since they were finally left to themselves?
