Sure, he was probably a Jewish apocalyptic preacher, of which there were dozens at that time. As for the gospels citations of Jesus, given how fond the authors were of plagiarizing from each other and of inventing stories to match the OT prophecies (as they understood them), the reconstruction of “what Jesus really said” is nearly a hopeless task.
