That’s interesting. I’d have a very hard time doing chest compressions on anyone with a pulse, let alone a conscious person, but I guess I should try to go read the story.

I once heard an anecdotal story about a patient who was in the hospital on a cardiac monitor, when he heard the alarm indicating that his own heart had stopped. Supposedly, he quickly administered a precordial thump to himself, before he lost his blood pressure and passed out, and he managed to restart his heart.

I don’t believe it actually happened.
