I went to the demonstration in Times Square yesterday. The atmosphere was very tense. I didn’t stay for the whole thing because it was very cold and I didn’t dress right, but it was different than any rally I’ve been to there. Usually it’s mostly old hippies, stupid college students and a few angry deranged radicals with home-made pamphlets. There are minor skirmishes, but mostly people just scream at each other. This was a tinderbox and the police knew it. They were very stern and very aggressive in their efforts to keep the pro-Israel demonstrators and the pali assholes separated. They threatened to arrest my friend who had a sign if he didn’t stay in the corral they set up on 39th street. Turns out, they were right to be so strict. Several officers were injured when things got ugly later on and my friend (the one with the sign) emailed me later that two of his friends were attacked on their way home (one of them a woman)by pali thugs because they had an Israeli flag. These people are a special kind of ugly.
