Except the GOP back in those days was a sane institution. Both parties worked together to resolve the problems we face. This is no longer true. Paul Ryan and other Ayn Rand acolytes and Koch Bros toadies are there to destroy anything that benefits people who are not in the 1%.

Am not a Bernie fan but there was a clip during the Tax Cut debate where he denounced a Republican Senator for saying that those who are older don’t have to worry about losing their benefits; as Bernie pointed out the real game is stripping them from those who are younger.
