As fewer and fewer people remember a historical event, it becomes less and less real and impactful, opening it up to absurd comparisons by those who’ve never had to live it. For example, I would imagine that in another 80 years, on the 100th anniversary of 9/11, if America is still a thing, most of the younger generations will be joking about it like it’s not a thing that was permanently etched in the minds of hundreds of millions of people at one point in history.
